EDLD 5363 Week 4 Reflection

I am very proud of my group during this public service announcement assignment. We would not have gotten an early start without the help of our two wonderful leaders Teri Call and Angela Mahl. They have really worked hard to make sure we were all involved and got things accomplished according to our timeline. We are now just waiting on two team members to add last minute touches to our assignment. I feel some members did not check their emails or our Google doc as much as others, which is hard when each task builds off of each other. If one person doesn't get done what they need to, then we can not continue with the rest of the project. Overall, I feel that we all worked well together. I am very pleased with the PSA that Angela and I produced and edited. Teri was great at the filming and providing us with digital photos for the video. Joanne and Liz provided our narration in English and Spanish. We also had enough time to produce the same PSA, but one in English and the other in Spanish. I would rate this experience as a positive one, especially since I had some HARD workers on my team!

We used this as a tool to collaborate with each other throughout our group project. I have really enjoyed using Google Doc, and it is very user friendly. What a great way for a group of people to communicate with each other via long distance. I will definitely be teaching my first grade team about this wonderful tool.

EDLD 5363 Week 2 Web Conference Reflection

Date of Web Conference:
Tuesday, November 22, 2011

I waited Monday night for our web conference but Dr. Abernathy never showed up. Later I found out through an email from Dawn that Dr. Abernathy was having Internet troubles. While we all LOVE technology, sometimes it can also be a pain!! = ) The web conference was then changed to Tuesday night. Going into this web conference I was very confused about our podcast assignment. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be audio and video or just audio. It was reassuring to see a lot of other students with the same questions. Dr. Abernathy as always was very encouraging and positive and made us all feel better about this assignment. I felt this web conference was very informative and helped me get on track for my week 2 assignment. I worked really hard on that assignment, and come to find out it would not be graded because of a mismatched rubric in Epic. This was very disappointing as week 2's assignment as very time consuming, and I put a ton of effort in to it. I would have really liked to seen my grade for this assignment.

EDLD 5363 Week 1 Web Conference Reflection

Date and time of web conference:
 November 14, 2011 at 6:00pm

This web conference was a great start to the class. I got to know Dr. Abernathy better as well as meet some new students. I saw many names that have been in my courses before, but also to see some new names as well. Dr. Abernathy was able to give us all positive encouragement towards this class. She makes me feel like even when things get stressful and hard, I can accomplish them. She also gave us a lot of helpful tips for creating our own personal digital story. I like the written chat aspect of our group web conferences. This allows fellow classmates to respond to each others' questions! I love to see everyone so helpful towards each other.
