I am a Sam Houston State University Alumna: Eat 'Em Up Kats! I am also a Zeta Tau Alpha Alumna. This is my 2nd year to teach 1st grade in Keller ISD and I absolutely LOVE it! I am now getting my masters in Education Technology Instruction and am excited to integrate everything I learn into my own classroom and life. I have a boyfriend of 5+ years who is a teacher/coach. We are both huge football and sports fans in general. Loving life and grateful for all the blessings God has guided me to and through.

Action Research Update EDLD 5326

Action Research Project Title: Integrating Netbooks into Writer’s Workshop Blog URL: http://cortney-mullman.blogspot.com/ Number of AR Project Documented Hours: 130 AR Project Summary (at least 250 words): The action research project has been a huge success thus far. I have been able to hold workshops to educate teachers on the use, ideas and findings to better integrate. I have seen students take off with their writings and feel more confident when writing stories for writer’s workshop. Not only have the students been successful academically but emotionally they are all excited and motivated to write when they are able to “publish” their work on a Netbook computer. Instead of being engaged just for a part of a writing lesson, I have seen engagement for a full writer’s workshop lesson take place as a result to using the Netbooks. Students are also developing technology skills and are more computer savvy and are learning skills on the computer that they are using for other learning websites in class and at home doing various things. The skills they are learning with the Netbooks in writer’s workshop are helping them be better writers but also helping them be the 21st century learners that we need them to be so they are successful in their future which of course will be full of technology. Overall, it has encouraged teachers to incorporate this technology and branch out to use other technological pieces in other parts of their days and in their lessons.
