About Me

My photo
I am a Sam Houston State University Alumna: Eat 'Em Up Kats! I am also a Zeta Tau Alpha Alumna. This is my 2nd year to teach 1st grade in Keller ISD and I absolutely LOVE it! I am now getting my masters in Education Technology Instruction and am excited to integrate everything I learn into my own classroom and life. I have a boyfriend of 5+ years who is a teacher/coach. We are both huge football and sports fans in general. Loving life and grateful for all the blessings God has guided me to and through.

Action Research

Action research is a way for “professionals to collect data to gain isnsights into their wonderings, analyze data along with reading relevant literature, make changes in practice based on new understandings developed during inquiry, and sharing findings with others” (Dana, 2009). This quote alone was enough to give me insight on what action research is. It is finding areas of improvement within your school community, and instead of igorning or talking about it, it is taking those action steps to work toward find a solution and improving that area.

There are many great ways to use action research. Whether it’s surveying parents and teachers, finding ways to incorporate technogloy, or something more common such as ways to better assist students with safety needs, action research is a great way to hear many opinions and ideas and take steps to ensure a solution is put in place. One of the best parts about action research is that it is a specific need for ones campus. Specifically, I can think of something that could use some improvement at my own campus and that’s our after school dismissal for our parent pick up area. It is a very croweded and chaotic area and do not feel it is as safe or as organized as it could be.

Blogs for Educational Leaders

Blogs are extremely beneficial and convenient for educational purposes. It is a great tool for all educators to easily access information, post information, and keep strong communication to the readers. Educational leaders can use a blog to collaborate with other administrators and teachers, relay information to parents, and provide research and resource tools that are relevant and purposeful to the reader. It is not only convenient and easy to access no matter where you are, but is a great way to display information in an organized and appealing way.
